Hello everyone!
Thank you for joining me on week 11 of this blog post series. I hope you all had a great weekend. This week, I'll be talking a bit about the package and also more about the documentation, so let's get started!
Sitemaps
Last time, I talked about the fact that I was changing up the interface for the document type settings. That is all done now! I also went ahead and moved some sitemap settings there.
Before this, these settings would be derived from the properties of the content item. So if you had a content item with the field "priority" it would then use that to show up in the sitemap. But with this change, you can set the default values for each type. Things like priority and change frequency are usually set on a type basis so I think this will help a lot of people that have to implement something like this in code. This way, you can just simply set it and be done with it.
And that is actually all for the package side this week. I've been mostly focused on creating a simple website for the package along with a page for documentation.
Documentation
I've talked about documentation before and I tried the Github Wiki functionality and totally did not like it. I am currently trying out GitBook. It seems quite promising as other packages like Konstrukt also use it. So, I'll probably try to move everything that I currently have on the Github Wiki to GitBook and see how that works out.
And that is already everything for this week. It's not a lot, but we are slowly moving towards a first release. The package is as good as done for a first release (in my opinion). I just want to make sure that the documentation is also ready to be used. It would suck if people downloaded the package, but then get stuck on how to configure it or use it.
Well, I hope to see everyone here again next week. Have a good week everyone!
